| Cooking Grease Recycling Program |
|
Gulf Shores Utilities board is pleased to bring a Grease Recycling program to the Gulf Shores Community. With oily residue in residential and rental property plumbing leading to sewer problems and blockages, this new program will greatly benefit both the public and wildlife. Used cooking oil and fats should always be disposed of properly. Never pour any type of oil down a drain or toilet! Even if the oil is poured slowly into a drain followed with hot water, this will eventually cause you problems with your homes plumbing and the sewer system as a whole. The process is simple. After letting oil cool, it should be poured into a clean, plastic container with a properly fitting lid. The container can be a Free GSUB container which can be found at our main office or one of the designated Used Oil Recycling Stations. Also the container can be the oils original container or any other clean plastic container that is convenient. The container can be dropped off at the Utilities Board Main Office or a Used Recycling Station and exchanged for an empty container. Its just that easy and does not cost you a penny! All Gulf Shores residents and guests are encouraged to participate. Protecting the environment is a team effort, so be sure to bring any used residential grease to one of the GSU recycling stations today! Gulf Shores Utilities Cooking Grease Recycling Bins Locations This program is for cooking oil only! No grease trap waste or petroleum based motor oil is accepted.
